SOUTH AFRICA
through its abundance of creativity and culture

South Africa, a country located at the southern end of the African continent, is a huge territory (1,224,297 km2) facing West to the Atlantic and East to the Indian Ocean. In the far South, the Cape of Good Hope separates the two oceans. Within the country is Lesotho, a small independent state.

The Republic of South Africa is blessed with incredible diversity, both in terms of its people, geography and culture.

South Africa's population, also known as the"Rainbow Nation", is about 50 million people, of whom about 80% are black, 10% white and 10% Asian and mixed race. The country has been hit on several occasions by large waves of immigration, mainly from other African countries including Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Lesotho. The South African space was structured by a long history of separation of human groups, a situation still very real almost thirty years after the end of the apartheid regime.

The landscapes vary from high mountains to arid deserts, passing by magnificent beaches and animal reserves. South Africa has extraordinary wild flora and fauna.
