RAYMOND YVES
KONO

Raymond Yves Kono, born in 1987, lives and works in Yaounde, Cameroon. From the age of 7 he became interested in drawing, and reproducing images he saw on television or in comics.
From 2010, he took classes at the University of Yaounde 1, and began to familiarize himself with notions of plastic arts, visual arts, contemporary arts and at the same time pursued training in screen printing. Thanks to his curious mind and his dynamism he began to rub shoulders with artists and to seek workshops in the field of the arts. From 2017, he has presented his paintings in numerous national and international collective exhibitions.
And currently Yves is exploring other media, including art video, installation, and comics. Attracted by “Free Figuration '', he presents works that are the antipodes of public expectation through his half-man, half-skeleton characters with upturned heads, which he calls `` Ntshi-Ntshim '' (in Eton language, meaning Spirit). And in 2019 he is selected to represent Cameroon at the Biennale Internationale des Arts Naifs in Abidjan (BINA 2020).
