Let's go to Ouagadougou...
I went to Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, several times during my business trips.
Burkina Faso (literally "the country of honest men") is a located in West Africa. The country hosts the largest cultural events on the African continent including the "Ouagadougou International Crafts Fair" (SIAO) which takes place every 2 years. During my missions in Africa, I always found a moment to go for a walk at the craft village. This one was located a bit away from the city center. It is always a real pleasure to walk around this place that brings together craftsmen from all disciplines: batik, basketry, pottery, leather goods, jewelry and bronze carving are all represented. And it's more than a pleasant walk, it is also an instructive one because the artisans, working under our eyes, are very willing to discuss and share.
Handicraft represents one part of the rich culture of Burkina Faso. And their most famous handicraft is bronze statuette…

I like the delicacy of the sculptures, the embodied women always being elegant, stylish, feminine and full of grace.
They fit perfectly into an interior and bring a touch of elegance. The bronze statuettes obtained are obtained thanks to the technique of lost wax. To learn more, you can watch this video.
